Shikshashree is a pre-matric scholarship scheme of the Government of West Bengal, exclusively for students from the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories. It was launched by the West Bengal Government in the Year 2014 and is implemented through the Backwards Classes Welfare and Tribal Development Department. Under this, financial assistance is provided to poor students studying from class V to VIII. So that they can continue their studies and reduce the problem of dropout.

Shikshashree Scholarship Registration Process
Online Application
Step 1. First, visit the official portal (P-WBSMS / OASIS).
Step 2. Register as a new user and get the form.
Step 3. Fill the application form online (Name, Address, Class, Caste, Income, etc details).
Step 4. Upload a scanned copy of the required documents (Aadhar, Income Certificate, Caste Certificate, Bank details, etc).
Step 5. Get the application number/receipt after submission.
Step 6. After verification by the department, the amount will be sent directly to the bank account through DBT.
Offline Application
Step 1. Get the Shikshashree application form from the school.
Step 2. Fill in all the required details.
Step 3. Attach photocopies of the required documents.
Step 4. Please submit the application form and supporting documents to the school.
Step 5. After verification at the school level, the application is registered on the online portal.
Step 6. After approval, the amount is deposited into the bank account through DBT.
Eligibility Criteria for Sikshashree Prakalpa
- The applicant must be a resident of West Bengal.
- The student must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) or the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
- The benefit will be available only to students studying in classes V to VIII.
- The annual income of the family should not exceed ₹2,50,000.
- The student should not be availing of any other similar type of state or central Government Scholarship.

Sikshashree Status Check 2025
Step 1. First, visit the official website of the OASIS portal or the P-WBSMS portal and do the Shikshashree login.

Step 4. Fill in the date of birth or other required details.
