The Mahalakshmi Scheme Telangana, is an important social welfare scheme launched by the Government of Telangana. Which aims to empower the women of the state in the fields of economic, social and transport. This scheme is mainly designed to benefit women from poor, low-income groups (BPL/APL) and Antyodaya families. Under this, eligible women are sent a cash assistance of ₹2,500 every month directly to their bank account. So that they can meet their household expenses, children’s education or other needs. 

Also, under the scheme, LPG cylinders are made available to women for ₹500. This reduces their fuel expenditure and promotes clean energy. Additionally, all women and transgender persons are given free travel in Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses. This scheme makes women self-reliant as well as increases their respect and participation in society. • Making women of economically weaker and poor sections of the state self-reliant by giving them cash assistance of ₹ 2,500 every month.

Registration Process for the Mahalakshmi Scheme in Telangana

Step 1. Getting the form: The applicant woman has to get the application form for the scheme. This form can be obtained from the Gram Panchayat, Municipal Office, or Praja Palana Seva Kendra.

Step 2. Attachment of required documents: The following documents have to be attached to the application form. Like Aadhar card, residence certificate, income certificate, etc.

Step 3. Filling the form: Fill in all the details in the application form carefully. For example, name, address, mobile number, ration card number, etc.

Step 4. Submitting the form: Submit the filled form to the respective Praja Palana Seva Kendra, MPDO (Mandal Parishad Development Officer) office, or Nagar Palika office. Make sure to take a receipt while submitting.

Mahalakshmi Scheme Telangana Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant must be female (males are not eligible).
• A woman must be a permanent resident of Telangana state.
• The woman must be 18 years of age or above.
• Family annual income should be ₹2 lakh or less.
• A woman must have a BPL, APL or Antyodaya ration card.
• A woman must have a bank account (for DBT).
• If a gas subsidy is required, the LPG gas connection should be in the name of the woman.
• Transgender persons are also eligible for free bus travel.
• Women should not be in any other government job/service.
• Families who are income tax payers or GST return filers are ineligible for the scheme.
• Women should not be getting the benefit of any other similar scheme earlier (in some cases).
